The Family Stone

The guy at the local Blockbuster recommended this movie to us last night. He was actually really helpful. It seemed as though he had seen every movie in the place. Anyway, he said this would be a good "cuddle movie" so of course, we had to get it (not my decision).

I should start out by mentioning that this movie stars Sarah Jessica Parker as some sort of uptight corporate biatch with zero people skills (gee, does that sound familiar to anyone?). This is a good time to mention that there needs to be some kind of intervention in Hollywood where everyone gets together and agrees that Sarah Jessica Parker was never hot and should not be a love interest for anyone in a movie ever again. Seriously, first Failure to Launch and now this. Enough already.

The setting is Christmas time, and SJP, who is dating Dermot Mulroney's character, is meeting his family for the first time. And of course, they all hate her without even meeting her first. Sure, that makes sense. So SJP feels uncomfortable and ends up staying at a hotel and asking her sister (played by Claire Danes) to come stay with her. Makes sense, right? Anyway, Dermot's brother, played by Luke Wilson, ends up falling for SJP and Dermot ends up falling for Claire. If that isn't weird enough, it all happens in the span on two days in movie-time.

Overall, it was ok, and if the wife or girlfriend really wants to see it, it's at least watchable.

Rating: 5 out of 10

Yeah dude, that movie was gay as hell. I highly recommend Failure to Launch.

Failure to launch was ok. I actually saw that one too. SJP's role in that one was even more ridiculous.
